The place:
West Africa - Mali - Ségou - “Pélengana Sud”.
Recipients:
A primary school and a kindergarden located in these suburbs.
Beginning of the material aid:
Immediate but initiated already a year ago.
Beginning of the 2009 action:
As soon as the collected sums reach the amount of the first
part of the needed funds for 2009 (~ US $15 000)
Duration of the action:
Unspecified in time
Type of assistance to be brought:
• Drinking water (finish digging the existing well halted by lack of funds).
• Distribute water (manual pump and simple tap).
• Repair the school building (windows, doors, roof and consolidate the existing walls).
• Prepare the building to prevent its degradation during the rainy season (June to September)
• Secure this building to deter thieves during the school holidays.
• Buy basic school furniture (tables, benches, shelves, desks for the teachers).
• Buy the essential school supplies (books, pencils, pens, books… etc).
• Build toilets to improve hygiene.
• Acquire and install a canteen in order to offer the 199 children and 215 kinder garden aged children, one meal a day, five days a week.
• Lastly, maintain permanent assistance to allow the school and kindergarden to operate year after year.
Summary of the plan of action
• Launch this website which is intended to be a communication tool between the Non Governmental Humanitarian Organization ASDA-ADDA and its sponsors/members. Our organization's goal is to operate in West Africa to improve education and living conditions among extremely underprivileged populations.
• Report the work undertaken and to be carried out.
• Collect the needed funds to conduct "onsite” assistance.
• Legitimize our action with the Malian authorities so as to be accredited as a Non Governmental Humanitarian Organization.
• Spend all the needed time in Mali to achieve our goals, report and make sure that the collected funds are properly used.
